Either a spinnaker pole or, a lighter, longer, whisker pole will work. (Note: The headsail tackis the name for the lower corner of the headsail - the sail closest to the front of the boat. The corresponding parts are the same relative to the front of the boat. Setting the Flasher ® with a pole is possible if you want to bother. The headsail of a sailboat is any sail set forward of the mast (on a single masted boat) or foremast (the mast nearest the bow). You will sail more comfortably, have better control, and get to your destination sooner if you jibe downwind. In winds under 15 knots, sailing dead downwind is slower than sailing at broad reaching angles - regardless of sailing with a Flasher ® or normal spinnaker. The 2023 version is redesigned to be lighter in weight compared to previous Powerfuse generations.

Then adjust the tack pendant so that the clew is higher than the tack.Īs the wind moves aft, the sheet and tack pendant are eased to keep maximum sail area projected and to keep the sail in the most efficient shape. Powerfuse clew and tack are our signature fully laminated radial overlapping internal panels used in PRO and PRO-HD constructions. Once on course, ease the sheet until a curl appears along the luff of the sail.

This will insure that the sail is at the optimum angle to the wind, and that the sails is as free as possible from the mainsail’s blanket zone. The sheet should be eased as much as possible without letting the sail collapse. Lining, head, clew, and tack pieces, as a, b, c (see sketch). The tack should always be set somewhat lower than the clew. A clew strap can also be used to hold a reefed (or unreefed) mainsail tack tight to the mast in the absence of a properly positioned tack hook. The leeches are lined from clew to earring with whole breadth, and the buntline patches. Conversely, easing the tack pendant and raising the tack creates a better shape for sailing at broader angles. Tightening the tack pendant moves the draft of the sail forward creating a stable and fast reaching shape.
